Kindness
It sounds really warm and friendly, does it not?
There isn’t any human being or animal in the world who does not recognize an act of kindness. Sometimes it requires no words; only a kindly gesture. The old adage, “Actions speak louder than words,” is so true, but words of kindness are just as powerful. One of the lovely things about kindness is that you can do it quietly, discreetly, without looking for recognition or praise. Acts of kindness should come from the heart and one should never look for anything in return, not even a thank you. But if someone says, “Thank you,” do let them know, “It was my pleasure.”
When you are kind to others, your heart feels lighter. The people who are truly kind to others aren’t even aware of their kindness – they just do it. It is an integral part of their being. But even if you have to tell yourself to be kind before you actually commit the act, it’s okay. It’s still better than not being kind at all! Practice not only makes perfect, but it becomes natural, effortless, after awhile. There are some people who just aren’t kind. It’s not because they don’t want to be kind, it’s because circumstances and situations in their lives prevent them from being so. But, as we all know, we can reprogram the way we think and feel. It takes a lot of work, but it’s worth trying!
Kindness
Such a lovely word!
